Wine of the Month: Cabreo

The Tenute del Cabreo are located in Greve in Chianti, in the heart of Tuscany. The estate is owned by Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari, which family has been making wine since the late eighteenth century.

Cabreo Il Borgo first appeared in 1985 with its 1982 vintage. Made with grapes from Cabreo Estate vineyards located in the hills of Greve in Chianti, creating an incredible Super-Tuscan blend, it is a combination of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 16-18 months in oak barrels and 6 month in bottle before release. The result is a dark ruby red colour and a full and velvety elegant finish. An award winning wine that never disappoints.


Cabreo La Pietra, whose first vintage was 1983, is a white wine which achieves a Tuscan interpretation of a style highly successful worldwide. Made with grapes from Cabreo estate vineyards located on the Panzano hills it is 100% Chardonnay. Matured 12 months in oak barrels with "batonnage" and 6 months in bottle before release. It has a bright golden yellow colour, the balanced rich taste has hints of spices and vanilla.
